The journey began in October 2010 when a small group standing astride the Great Wall of China decided that the next place iGNiTE should go is South Africa. The process of converting this idea into action stretched, pulled and challenged everyone involved. iGNiTE South Africa 2012: for a brief while we created an alternative world for ourselves: we cooked, ate, cleaned, slept, worked, played; we listened, we debated, we laughed, we cried– we were affected by each other and we did so as brothers and sisters, despite all the things that separate us. We were together, a team, with shared vision, with common purpose.
What did this experience all amount to? Why did you agree to participate? So what? What next? What about sustainability? Who are you? Are you a leader? What is your vision? What is your purpose? These questions are a matter of life and death, and because life and death are an ever-present reality we must keep on asking and answering those questions.
